The Alliance for International Youth Development (AIYD) is a community of practice and advocacy coalition of leading U.S.- based youth and community development organizations.

RTI is an independent, nonprofit institute that provides research, development, and technical services to government and commercial clients worldwide. Their mission is to improve the human condition by turning knowledge into practice. RTI provides high caliber, objective research and consulting services in the areas of international development, economic and social policy research, survey research and services, statistical research, advanced technology, and education and training, among others. RTI was founded in 1958. Today, RTI’s staff of more than 3,700 supports work in more than 75 countries around the world.

 

RTI’s comprehensive workforce development solutions in the United States and globally build local capacity, design systems to align with employer needs, and create employment opportunities for youth. Our youth programs have deepened our knowledge of youth challenges in different countries and allowed us to build our program design capacities to serve youth. RTI’s past and present projects involving youth include some of the following examples, among many others: 

  • Capacity building with young entrepreneurs in Senegal
  • Gang prevention strategies in Guatemala and El Salvador
  • Youth-focused labor market assessment in Morocco
  • Economic generation activities for adolescent girls in Zimbabwe
  • University-level engineering and agriculture centers of excellence in Liberia to improve the skill and job placement success of its graduates
  • Supporting higher education reform, demand-driven occupational training programs and labor market information systems in El Salvador
  • Strengthening job prospects and technical training of youth in priority growth sectors in Haiti
  • Vocational training, business, and employment support to job seekers and targeted youth through skills-development programs in Iraq, and
  • Conducting a comprehensive thematic study of a donor’s youth portfolio of projects related to employment and entrepreneurship across 11 countries in Latin America
