Global Communities

The Alliance for International Youth Development (AIYD) is a community of practice and advocacy coalition of leading U.S.- based youth and community development organizations.

Founded in 1952, Global Communities (formerly CHF International)  is an international non-profit organization that works closely with communities worldwide to bring about sustainable changes that improve the lives and livelihoods of the vulnerable.  Their mission is to be a catalyst for long-lasting positive change in low- and moderate-income communities around the world, helping them improve their social, economic and environmental conditions. Their reputation is built on the strong relationships they have with the communities they serve—engaging and involving them throughout the development process to keep control and ownership in the communities hands.

Global Communities currently has programs in more than 20 countries around the world with areas of expertise that include: Economic Development, Micro, SME and Housing Finance, Infrastructure and Construction, Governance and Urban Development, Civil Society and Municipal Development, Global Health and Emergency Response.

In more than 15 countries, Global Communities has successfully engaged youth in productive opportunities and civic leadership. It has established Investing in Youth as a cross-cutting theme which is actively integrated into their programming. Examples of youth programs range from combating child labor, training youth for joining the workforce, promoting youth entrepreneurship and improving infrastructure for education, among others.
