Conference on Youth 2015

Event Date(s):
Thursday, November 26, 2015 - 8:00am to Saturday, November 28, 2015 - 5:30pm

The 11th Conference of Youth will take place in France. Bigger than the former COY, its purpose is to present the youth voice just before the COP. Young people know about the limits of our model of society, and they are ready to start a paradigm shift to pave the way to a more sustainable and desirable society.

The International Youth Climate Movement (IYCM) is the largest international network on youth involved on climate change issues. Young individuals, national organizations or national and/or transnational organizations networks lead all year long projects of awareness and mobilization in order to inspire and federate more young people on climate stakes. Besides, they organize advocacy activities on various issues such as young people participation, climate change education or widely on subjects linked to climate change adaptation and/or mitigation. In France, the IYCM includes CliMates, Guides and Scouts of France (via its international structures), and REFEDD.

Within the climate conferences (COP) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), young people participate since the beginning of the process. For them, it aims at going further into their understanding of the climate negotiation process and also at reinforcing their capacity for action on the field. It is the reason why every year, before the COPs, they organize the traditional conferences of youth (COY).
