Frequently Asked Questions

Does AIYD accept new members?

Yes! The Alliance for International Youth Development (AIYD) seeks new organizational members to help us strengthen our community of practice and advocacy efforts on behalf of youth development.  Please visit our Mission & Guiding Principles page to learn more about AIYD. If you believe your organization is a good fit for AIYD, please download and complete in full the membership form available on our Apply for Membership page and submit to ssladen@interaction.org. Please allow for three to five business days for a reply from our staff.

Can I join AIYD as an individual member?

Currently, AIYD membership is limited to organizations and does not offer membership on an individual basis. All staff from AIYD member organizations may participate in AIYD’s activities, from our Working Groups, leadership committees and learning events.

Where does AIYD’s funding come from?

AIYD is driven by its members and funded by annual membership dues.

Does AIYD provide grants or funding to its members or external organizations?

No. AIYD is a community of practice and advocacy and as such, does not provide funding to members or external partners, or accept solicitations.

Does my organization have to be a member of InterAction to join AIYD?

No. To support and advance our mission, AIYD has formed a strategic partnership with InterAction which serves as our home and fiduciary agent. InterAction membership is limited to U.S., based non-profit organizations; AIYD members include InterAction members, but represent a diverse cross-section of non-profit and private organizations dedicated to youth development.

If my organization is already a member of InterAction, is it automatically a member of AIYD?

No. AIYD and InterAction are partners but operate as separate entities. The application process for membership and dues for InterAction and AIYD is therefore handled separately, with specific standards and requirements designed to match our respective missions and operating guiding principles.

Is AIYD membership limited to non-profits or U.S.-based organizations?

No. AIYD members include and welcome InterAction members, but represent a diverse cross-section of non-profit and private organizations dedicated to youth development. We believe that diverse membership reflects today's development landscape, and supports our efforts to include multi-stakeholder perspectives. We welcome interest from organizations across the U.S., and beyond.
